Clinic and OB Registered Nurse (30 Hours per Week)

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW: 

Face to Face Health and Counseling is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing economic and health equity for youth ages 11–24. We do this work through a comprehensive approach that includes housing, mental health, medical, youth justice, education & employment, and community services. We take a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to our work and center the needs of young people impacted by racism and other forms of oppression and marginalization. Founded in 1972, Face to Face serves more than 3,000 youth annually.   

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing support to ensure quality care, effective safety practices, and efficient services. The position also supports a pediatric/adolescent residency program and an OB residency program and serves as the main point of contact for clients. This is a full-time position at 30 hours a week on Monday – Friday.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct nursing support for general medicine, reproductive health, and OB visits.
  • Triage patient phone calls and walk-in clients.
  • Prepare for and assist residents on general medicine and prenatal residency clinic days.
  • Coordinate care for OB Program patients and maintain ongoing relationships.
  • Conduct OB histories, connect patients to OB Program case management, and lead OB Care Coordination Team Meeting on OB day.
  • Assist residents with patient follow-up, treatment, and post-appointment referrals.
  • Respond to medical records requests.
  • Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following nursing philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Promote client's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; and answering questions.
  • Provide non-judgmental, factually accurate, and unbiased information, and perinatal education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in implementing the vaccine program including the Minnesota Vaccine for Children program and UUAV.
  • Assist with medication dispensary inventory and stocking of supplies.
  • Resolve patient problems and needs by utilizing team strategies.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Provide all services guided by the evidence-based principles for helping youth overcome homelessness.
  • Step in and help to "get the job done" when short-staffed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate, Diploma, or Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Current licensure to practice as a RN in the state of Minnesota.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and the Scope of Ambulatory Care Nursing.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) course completion.
  • Minimum of one year OB-GYN of experience relevant to the position.
  • Knowledge of maternal and infant health and health disparities.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with electronic health records.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial and cultural backgrounds.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to perform the duties outlined in the job description.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires working under stress in emergency situations.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
  • Requires manual dexterity and coordination sufficient to operate a copier, calculator, telephone, scales, thermometer, and sphygmomanometer; to administer oral and IM medications.
  • Responsibilities may involve occasional lifting of equipment/supplies, usually less than 25 pounds.
  • Face to Face is subject to the government mandate requiring employee COVID vaccination. All employees will be required to get vaccinated.

PAY & BENEFITS: 

The pay rate for this position is between $38.00 - $42.00 an hour, based on qualifications.
